Ipsy Review – March 2017

Ipsy is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription. Each month, subscribers will receive 5 deluxe and full size beauty and makeup items, including a reusable makeup bag. Products are chosen for you based on a customized profile you complete when signing up.

Ipsy Glambags vary by subscriber. Selections are based on the profile you submit when you sign up for Ipsy.

Cost: $10/month

Each month, you will receive a reusable makeup bag. The design of the bag is different each month. This month is a nudish pink bag. It’s soft and velvety on one side and the other side is mesh netting. It also folds over so it can be used as a clutch.

Because the bags vary so much for every subscriber, ipsy does not include an informational card. Sometimes there is a card with the monthly “theme” and hashtags to use on social media in case you want to post pics of your bag.Yo can log into your account at ipsy.com for details on all of your products. You can also check out spoilers early int he month in case you don’t like surprises!

This month’s card reads “You are Beautiful. (Pass it On).” Such a lovely sentiment.

The Products:

Mudmasky Facial Detox Purifying Recovery Mask ($18.50): So the value on this mask seems high but a full size bottle (60ml) is $74! This masks promises to renew an detoxify skin while also refining pores and brightening. The awesome thing is that this mask only needs to be used for 7-11 minutes (depending on your skin type.) You can use this one to two times per week.

Skone Luxe Pro Blending Brush ($15): Ipsy tends to send a lot of brushes and I love that. This blending brush is great quality. The bristles are soft yet seem resilient to falling out. It also did a nice job of blending my eyeshadow without tugging or pulling at my skin. I also really love the rose gold accent of this brush!

City Color Photo Chic Dark Spot Corrector ($3.48): I am obsessed with color correcting these days so I was thrilled when I saw this in my glam bag spoilers this month. This is a peachy hue so I’m not sure it would work well for really fair skin tones. For me, I think it will work just fine on my semi-dark undereye circles. It seems to blend out fairly well. It’s a creamy formula so I will still need to set it with powder.

tarte tartiest lip paint in delish ($3.33): Ipsy actually gave subscribers sample choices for one product this month and this was my choice. There were three shades to choose from. This shade, delish, is a rose-nudish shade. It’s a bit dark for me but I think I might be ableto make it work for me this fall. The formula is kind of runny at first so you have to be careful of feathering. It does dry quickly to a matte finish.

So Susan Blush & Glow in Rose Rust ($22.95): This blush is gorgeous! It looks dark in the package but it goes on slightly sheer and it’s buildable. It’s just a gorgeous shade. Plus, this is a full size blush!!  It’s also vegan and contains no phthalates and parabens.

Total Value

The total value of this month’s ipsy glam bag is $63.26. That is so incredible for a $10 cost! I am really happy with all of the products this month. The lipstick may be the only miss for me but again, I think I can wear it this fall.

Did you get this month’s Glam Bag? What products did you receive? I love hearing all of the variations that were sent out!

Pop Sugar Must Have Box Review – April 2016

Disclosure: This post contains referral links.

PopSugar Must Have is a monthly lifestyle subscription for women. Boxes include a variety of exclusive and trendy items including beauty products, food/snacks, lifestyle items, and fashion accessories. Aside from the monthly box, PopSugar also offers limited edition boxes from time to time.

Cost: $39.95/month

I noticed that the packaging of the box has changed this month and it’s much bigger than usual.

PopSugar includes an information card that lists all of the products along with their values.

Cravings (Cookbook) by Chrissy Tiegen ($29.99): I don’t mind getting cookbooks but I find that I rarely use them. I flipped through this one and there are some interesting recipes though so I am going to make a point to test some of these. It’s a great quality book and it would make a really nice gift as well.

Canvas Home Tinware Salt & Pepper Shakers ($12): I saw these on a spoiler post before I received my box and I was so excited because these do match my kitchen. However, when I unboxed these I found that I had two pepper shakers. I emailed PopSugar’s customer service and they assured me that they would mail out another set soon.

Next by Nature Dark Chocolate Covered Expresso Beans ($3.99): I love these! They are rich and tasty. Plus, they satisfy my sweet tooth without blowing my diet!

Farmacy Sleep Tight Firming Night Balm ($48): This night balm helps to smooth wrinkles and firm skin. It’s kind of a gel consistency which I thought was odd at first. It’s really soothing though and I do feel like my skin is a bight tighter.

Noon Design Shop Lemons Flour Sack Tea Towel ($18): This tea towel is handmade in the US and it is machine washable. The info card says that the fabric gets better with every wash. I love the vintage look of the towel as well. It’s super cute and cheerful. It’ll definitely help to brighten up my kitchen for spring.

Royal Apothic Field Poppy Conservatories Hand Creme ($24): I really enjoy receiving hand creams in subscription boxes. I seem to stash them everywhere from my bedroom to the office to my purse. This one is scented with fig, tea, jasmine, lily, moss and leaf. It’s a really great spring fragrance!

Bloom That $20 Gift Card: I checked out BloomThat and I really didn’t see any arrangements cheaper than $50 so you will need to spend money to claim this gift card. I don’t really have a need to send flowers to anyone right now so I doubt I will use this. Also, because you have to spend money to use it, I am not including it in the total value of this box.

Verdict: The total value of this month’s box is $135.98. I’m really happy with the value even though not every product was a huge hit this month. I really love the salt and pepper shakers (as long as I receive the correct ones!) and the tea towel though! The Farmacy balm is also a great find and not something I probably would have picked up on my own.

Each FabFitFun box includes a magazine that details all of the products in the box, along with some insider tips and tricks! There are also coupon codes and promos included for the some of the products.

HerbGarden by Masterskit($35): This kit includes everything you need to grown your own basil, thyme and mint. This is one of my favorite items in the box. I think we are going to put this in our sunroom soon.

Tag Necklace by Jook & Nona ($65): This was a spoiler item and subscribers received one of four different words including Love, Dream, Happy and Inspire. This necklace is pretty but I wish I hasn’t received Dream. It’s also a bit short on me so I will probably gift this item.

Here is the close up of the necklace:

Contour Kit by ISH ($32): This was another spoiler item that I was super excited about! I do not own a contour kit so I was happy to finally receive one! Each palette includes a blush, bronzer, highlighter and contour shade. Subscribers were able to choose between light/medium and medium/dark.

Bath Bomb Trinity by Jus D’Amour ($28): I always hope to receive more bath products in subscription boxes so I was thrilled about this set! This set includes three scents: 1) eucalyptus, peppermint, and lime, 2) lavender chamomile, and ylang ylang, and 3) jasmine, rose and sandalwood.

Keratin Gloves & Socks ($9.98): These help to nourish and moisturize skin, nails and cuticles. They are packaged sepearately so you don’t have to use them together. I have already used the gloves and my hands look and feel great. These are perfect to use before a mani/pedi!

Shaving Emulation Lotion by HelloLegs ($19.95): This is a rich shave lotion that includes “blade butter” which is supposed to give your razor better performance. I haven’t tried this yet because I have quite a few bottles of shaving cream but I’m sure I’ll get to this soon enough!

Argan  Hemp Oil Therapy by Marrakesh ($22.99): This helps your hair to look smoother and it also nourishes dry hair. I used this recently and it did leave my hair feeling much softer.

Yoga Mat Strap by Merrithew ($14.99): It wouldn’t be a FabFitFun box without a fitness item! This strap can be used on your yoga mat or as a resistance cord for strength training.

31 Bits $25 Gift Card: 31 Bits is an amazing company that sells handcrafted jewelry made from recycled paper. You can check out my review of 31 Bits here.

Sterling Forever $30 Gift Card: Sterling Forever offers some fun and trendy pieces I’m excited to use this card!

Verdict: This FabFitFun box has an amazing value of $282.91 (which includes the two gift cards.) I think this is an incredible box and I really love the mix of items that are perfect for spring. I think my favorite items are the contour kit and the bath bombs!

All of the items are wrapped in pretty twine and each includes a paper with information on the product and vendor.

Done is Better than Perfect & Don’t Quit Your Daydream Notespads by Parrot Design Studio ($13): I love notepads and these are adorable! Parrot Designs Studio is location in Maine and all of their products are printed in a rural farmhouse. I think these designs are great. I am going to use the list for my to-do list at work. The smaller pad includes blank note paper so I am going to use that for my planner and coupon binder.

Whoopie Pies from Levant Corner Store ($6/ea.): I was amazed when I pulled these treats out of the box. They are huge! I received one original and one peanut butter. Honestly, each pie will take me a days to eat! Levant Corner Store’s whoopie pies have been voted People’s Choice for the last three years at the Annual State of Main Whoopie Pie Festival!

Water Bottle Decal by LG Design ($6): This decal can be added to any water bottle to help you track your daily water intake. I have a hard time getting all of my water each day so this will be really helpful. Now I just have to decide which water bottle to use this on!

Silver Cuff by The Bangle Bear ($15): These bangles are designed and created by two sister whose mission is to design quality jewelry that is also affordable. This bracelet is meant to help you keep your hair tie around your wrist without leaving those ugly imprints on your wrist. I saw one of these online recently and thought it was such a cool idea! T always comments on how horrible it is to keep a hair tie on my wrist because they can cut off circulation. This product solves that problem!

Here is a closer look at the bangle on. It is adjustable so it should fit most wrists.

Limited Edition Numbered & Signed Artwork by Cynthia Bogart ($45): This is a really pretty watercolor print and I plan on hanging it my craft room. Cynthia Bogart is an illustrator from NYC and her artwork has been featured on postcards as well as scarves, pillows, and cell phone covers. You can check out her Etsy shop here if you’re interested in browsing her work!IMG_5039

Make It Happy by Lara Casey ($15.99):Lara Casey is an inspiration speaker, author, and publisher for Souther Weddings Magazine. This book helps you to choose purpose over perfection. I think it sounds like a really interesting read so I’m hoping to get around to reading this soon!

2016 Undated Planner by Passion Planner ($29.99): I love planners so I was super excited to see this in the box! This is a large planner and it is undated. I already have a 2016 planner so I am putting this away for next year. It also sections for goals and other notes so that’s perfect for me.

Here is a look at the inside of the planner:

Verdict: The total value of this box is $136.98 which is nearly triple the cost! I really enjoyed this Willie Wags box. I thought the curation felt really special and I love that the box showcases products made by women owned businesses.

31 Bits Review

Disclaimer: This complimentary product was received for review purposes. All opinions expressed in this review are my own. No compensation was received for this review.

31 Bits is an socially conscious online jewelry and accessory shop that specializes in pieces made from completely from recycled paper. All pieces are handmade by women in Northern Uganda. 31 Bits works directly with these women to help them to earn an income to provide for their families while also receiving training in business, finance, and health education.

31 Bits will be featured in this spring’s FabFitFun Box. Because of this, 31 Bits graciously sent me a piece to review.

Each piece is made from recycled paper. The finished product is coated with a clear varnish. The pieces can be wiped clean with a dry cloth. It’s very important to note that these pieces should not be worn in the shower, pool, etc.

I received the “Saguaro” neckalce ($42). The beads are dusted with gold leafing to add a touch of glam. This is a really fun piece that is going to be great for spring and summer. I love longer necklaces and this is the perfect length.

I am really excited about 31 Bits. The pieces unique, fun, and interesting. I also love the mission of their company!

I encourage you to head over to 31 Bits now to check out their collection!
