Each box includes a mini-magazine that details each product.

IMG_4031

Freeze 24-7 Anti-Aging Eye Serum ($52.90): Incredible value on this sample! This serum reduces puffiness and fine lines. I actually own another sample tube of this serum so I have passed this one on to my Mom.

IMG_4029

Pur-Lisse Blue Lotus Balancing Moisturizer ($16): Another great value! I love Pur-Lisse products so I am happy to receive this. I  think I already own this one as well. It leaves skin soft and glowing without any residue or greasiness.

IMG_4019

Supergoop Defense Refresh Setting Mist SPF 50 ($4.12): I own this as well! This is a setting spray that mattifies skin. I love that it also includes an SPF. It’s also really refreshing and cool on hot summer days. One warning on this product: When you spray on your face, be careful to not accidentally spray any on your hair. I did get some in my hair and it left it feeling sticky.

IMG_4021

Mally Mattewind Eye Brightener ($25): This is a dual pencil that includes a pencil and a shadow brush. I thought this was eyeliner at first! The pencil is peachy-white and is meant to be used around your eyes to help brighten them and make you look more awake!

IMG_4025

Cargo Swimmables Eye Pencil in Pebble Beach ($12.60): I like that this shade is a deep brown but it’s not black. This will be a much better shade for work or every day wear. It’s supposed to be waterproof so I’m hoping that means it will stay in place all day.

IMG_4030

Wet Brush Midi Brush ($8.99): Subscribers received this brush in either blue or silver. It’s a small, compact brush which I like. I usually use a wide tooth comb when my hair is wet but this brush is designed to be used on wet hair without damaging or breaking your strands. So far I have used this only on my dry hair but it does not pull my hair at all.

Verdict: The value of this boz is $119.61 which is mind-blowing! At first, I was not really excited with this box but after looking over the products again, I have to say this is one of the best Allure boxes this year for me. A lot of the products were repeats for me but that’s ok because they are products I love! I think my favorite find this month is the brush! My hair tangles so easily so I love the idea of a brush that does not break or damage my hair!

Each box includes a mini-magazine that details each product.

IMG_3403

Klorane Shampoo with Mango Butter ($5): I received this last year from Birchbox and I really liked it. It smells amazing! This is a large sample so it will last me at least a week (I wash my hair daily.)

IMG_3402

Pur-lisse lue Lotus Eye Adore Serum ($30): I received this in another subscription box earlier this year and just ran out recently. This stuff is amazing! It absorbs quickly and leaves the under eye area feeling soothed and refreshed. It is very gentle and did not irritate my eye area.

IMG_3404

Pur-lisse Blue Lotus SPF 30 Essential Daily Moisturizer ($16): I have never used this moisturizer but I’ve read great reviews online. It absorbs quickly and helps to neutralize free radicals before they can damage your skin. This is also a good size sample so it will last for several weeks.

IMG_3400

Leaders 7 Orange SuperFood Coconut Gel Marks ($6): This is just one of the varieties of sheet masks sent out this month. I love sheet masks and use at least one each week.

IMG_3405

Kardashian Beauty Cabana Bronze (~$3): This is a skin illuminating powder but unfortunately for me, mine arrived in a broken mess. I used some rubbing alcohol to see if I could revive it but I’m not sure it was a success. I’m a little bummed because this looked like a pretty shade.

IMG_3401

Julep Nail Color in Katie ($14): Hey, a nail polish named after me! This is a very bright orchid purple. Subscribers received either this shade, April (coral) or Cassidy (rich teal.) To be honest, I would have loved to have received the teal shade but this purple is nice too. I don’t think I have anything else like this in my collection.

IMG_3406

Verdict: This month’s box has an incredible value of $74! I really think this was a solid month. I’m bummed about the bronzer but I understand that these things happen during shipping from time to time.

Allure Beauty Box Review November 2015

IMG_4399

Allure Beauty Box is a monthly beauty subscription from Allure magazine. Each box includes 4-6 deluxe and full size beauty and makeup products.

Cost: $15/monthly

IMG_4396

Each box includes a mini-magazine that details each product and why it was chosen by the Allure Beauty Editors.

IMG_4398

Klorane Floral Eye Make-Up Remover ($1.91): I ran out of eye makeup remover a while go so I was so happy to receive this. It has a slightly floral scent but it’s not overpowering. Allure does say that it tingles slightly but does not cause burning or irritation to the eye area.

IMG_4395

Crabtree & Evelyn Verbena and Lavender De Provence Bath & Shower Gel ($2.94): I really love the fresh, clean scent of this body wash. Plus, we don’t receive body wash in subscription boxes often so this is a nice change of pace for me.

IMG_4394

Hanae by Hanae Mori ($2.16): This perfume has notes of strawberry, patchouli, toffee, sandalwood and orange blosson. It’s a very light scent for me but I love the somewhat sexy notes of sandalwood.

IMG_4393

Mally Beauty High-Shine Liquid Lipstick ($15): I have used this lipstick in the past and loved it. I received the shade Perfect Pink but subscribers may receive one of ten shades selected by Allure editors.

IMG_4392

L’Occitane Divine Youth Oil ($10.60): This light facial oil hydrates your skin without leaving it greasy. Allure said to use this under your normal night cream as well to help the nutrients in the cream absorb better. I really like this oil. It absorbs quickly and it also has a nice, light scent.

IMG_4397

Kevin Murphy Anti-Gravity ($6.67): This volumizing serum helps to boost volume without weighing hair down. It has a really pleasant scent (Allure says it smells like Lavender Lemonade.) I have fine hair so I really hope Allure is correct in saying this will not make my hair feel greasy or weighed down.

Verdict: The total value of this month’s box is $39.28. This is one of my favorite Allure boxes lately. I’m glad to see a good mix of skincare, haircare, and makeup products this month.

IMG_4265

Bumble and Bumble All-Style Blow Dry Cream ($3): This cream fights frizz, heat damage, and extends your blowout. I love Bumble and Bumble so I am really happy to see this in this month’s box. Plus

IMG_4267

Rituals Gingo’s Secret Ginseng & Gingko Biloba Hand Balm ($17):This is actually a full size product which is awesome. The balm i really thick and it does seem to take a moment to absorb. The smell of this lotion is wonderful though. It’ll be perfect for the upcoming colder months.

IMG_4264

Jouer Daily Clarifying Treatment Oil ($4.80): Subscribers either received this product or the Jouer Daily Repair Treatment Oil. This oil helps to prevent acne by killing bacteria. The main ingredients are grape-seed oil, neem oil, and primrose oil (which helps sooth inflammation.) I have been breaking out more than usual lately so I’m happy to try this.

IMG_4269

Red Flower Lymphatic Phytopower Sea Cleanser & Masque ($5.25): This cream cleanser doubls as a moisturizing mask. You can use it quickly as a facial wash or apply to your face and leave on for several minutes before rinsing. I am really eager to test this one out!

IMG_4266

Cargo Eye Shadow in Flint ($16): I love Cargo products so I’m always thrilled to see them in a subscription box. Subscribers received one of four shades: Flint (shown here), Pasadena (a light pink), Oz (yellow), or Greenbay (a light green.) I am really happy with the color I received. I have tons of eyeshadows right now so I am passing this one to a friend.

IMG_4268

Kryolan Lipstick Mat in Aurora, Eos, and Nike (~$5): These matte lipsticks are made with vitaman E so the lipsticks are easier to apply and do not dry or crack. I have a lot of lipsticks on hand so I am passing these on to a friend as well.

Verdict: The total value of this box is around $50. This is one of my favorite Allure Beauty boxes to date. Even though I don’t need several of the products for myself, I am happy that I can gift them to friends.

Allure Beauty Box Review – September 2015

IMG_4197
Allure Beauty Box is a monthly beauty subscription from Allure magazine. Until recently, this subscription box was called Sample Society. Each box includes 4-6 deluxe and full size beauty and makeup products.
Cost: $15/monthly
Allure always includes a mini-magazine that gives information on each of the products and insights to why Allure editors chose them.
 IMG_4194
Kaplan MD Cellular Rejuvenating Concentrate ($17): This anti-aging serum is made without any parabens or sulfates. Allure says that you only need a few drops so this little sample should last me a while. Once I am finished with my current serum, I will try this.
 IMG_4192
Soap & Glory Pillow Plump XXL Lip Gloss in Pinkwell ($5.60): I am not a fan of lip plumpers. This one didn’t sting as bad as others I have tried but there is a slight tingling feeling that I just don’t find pleasant. I do love the shade of this gloss though.
 IMG_4195
Tangle Teezer ($15): I have been wanting to try a tangle teezer for a long time so I was thrilled when I saw one in this box. It does an amazing job at detangling my hair. I haven’t tried it on wet hair yet but Allure says it works great. I’m not sure if subscribers all received this same color or not.
IMG_4189
Alterna Replenishing Moisture Milk ($5): I love Alterna products so I was happy to see this in the box. This is a leave in conditioner that is safe on color-treated and fine hair. It also has a nice, light citrus scent.
IMG_4193
Pixi by Petra Glow Tonic ($2.21): I have been using this toner each morning before applying my makeup and I really like it. It doesn’t feel like it dries my skin out. My face does feel more radiant afterwards as well.
IMG_4190
Erno Laszlo Firmarine Bar Soap ($5.09): This facial soap fights free radicals to create a smoother, more radiant appearance. I am actually using a facial soap bar right now but once that is gone, I will start using this one. Mini soaps are so cute!
IMG_4191
Jane Iredale Smooth Affair Facial Primer & Brightener ($6.78): This is my favorite product this month! This primer is super moisturizing and leaves my makeup looking flawless. It also has a really nice scent (which is unusual in a primer). This is $48 for a full size bottle but I think it’s definitely worth it.
IMG_4188 (1)
Verdict: The total value of this month’s box is $56.68 which is really impressive! Not every product is a win for me but I did find some really interesting products like the Tangle Teezer!
