Ipsy Review – March 2017

Ipsy is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription. Each month, subscribers will receive 5 deluxe and full size beauty and makeup items, including a reusable makeup bag. Products are chosen for you based on a customized profile you complete when signing up.

Ipsy Glambags vary by subscriber. Selections are based on the profile you submit when you sign up for Ipsy.

Cost: $10/month

Each month, you will receive a reusable makeup bag. The design of the bag is different each month. This month is a nudish pink bag. It’s soft and velvety on one side and the other side is mesh netting. It also folds over so it can be used as a clutch.

Because the bags vary so much for every subscriber, ipsy does not include an informational card. Sometimes there is a card with the monthly “theme” and hashtags to use on social media in case you want to post pics of your bag.Yo can log into your account at ipsy.com for details on all of your products. You can also check out spoilers early int he month in case you don’t like surprises!

This month’s card reads “You are Beautiful. (Pass it On).” Such a lovely sentiment.

The Products:

Mudmasky Facial Detox Purifying Recovery Mask ($18.50): So the value on this mask seems high but a full size bottle (60ml) is $74! This masks promises to renew an detoxify skin while also refining pores and brightening. The awesome thing is that this mask only needs to be used for 7-11 minutes (depending on your skin type.) You can use this one to two times per week.

Skone Luxe Pro Blending Brush ($15): Ipsy tends to send a lot of brushes and I love that. This blending brush is great quality. The bristles are soft yet seem resilient to falling out. It also did a nice job of blending my eyeshadow without tugging or pulling at my skin. I also really love the rose gold accent of this brush!

City Color Photo Chic Dark Spot Corrector ($3.48): I am obsessed with color correcting these days so I was thrilled when I saw this in my glam bag spoilers this month. This is a peachy hue so I’m not sure it would work well for really fair skin tones. For me, I think it will work just fine on my semi-dark undereye circles. It seems to blend out fairly well. It’s a creamy formula so I will still need to set it with powder.

tarte tartiest lip paint in delish ($3.33): Ipsy actually gave subscribers sample choices for one product this month and this was my choice. There were three shades to choose from. This shade, delish, is a rose-nudish shade. It’s a bit dark for me but I think I might be ableto make it work for me this fall. The formula is kind of runny at first so you have to be careful of feathering. It does dry quickly to a matte finish.

So Susan Blush & Glow in Rose Rust ($22.95): This blush is gorgeous! It looks dark in the package but it goes on slightly sheer and it’s buildable. It’s just a gorgeous shade. Plus, this is a full size blush!!  It’s also vegan and contains no phthalates and parabens.

Total Value

The total value of this month’s ipsy glam bag is $63.26. That is so incredible for a $10 cost! I am really happy with all of the products this month. The lipstick may be the only miss for me but again, I think I can wear it this fall.

Did you get this month’s Glam Bag? What products did you receive? I love hearing all of the variations that were sent out!

All of the products are in a reuseable makeup bag. The design of the bag changes each month. Somehow I forgot to take a photo of this month’s bag by itself but you can see it in the image above. Subscribers received this in different shades. I’m not sure how many shades were sent out but I do know that one of my friends received it in purple.

IMG_3137

Pacifica Natural Mineral Coconut Eyeshadow Trio in Natural Beauty ($8.40): I love Pacifica eyeshadows because they are so creamy and blendable.  They are also 100% vegan and cruelty-free. I have so happy to have received this in a neutral shade as well. I tend to wear more natural eye makeup most days so this works perfectly for me. The colors in this trio are Skinny Dip, Crush, and Lovely. I could not find this particular trio on the Pacifica website so I am basing my value on a similar trio set.

IMG_3141

Smashbox X-Rate Mascara ($7.33): This is a volumizing mascara. Smashbox is a great brand so I am happy to see it in this month’s Ipsy bag. However, I have not tested this one out just yet because I have so many mascaras already open in my makeup bag.

IMG_3143

Eva NYC Hungry Hair Oil Treatment ($2.37): This oil helps your hair by adding nourishment, strengthening, and protecting from heat treatment. It is made with argan oil so I am excited to try this. My hair is so dry right now and I cannot seem to find a great product to help add moisture without  weighing it down.

IMG_3140

Bellapierre Gel Lip Liner in Nude: (~$14):I do not wear lip liner very often but I am happy that this is a nude shade. When I do wear lipsticks, I tend to stick with nude or light pinks so this will work well.

IMG_3142

Vera Mona Smudger Brush ($6): I love receiving brushes in subscription boxes! This one feels like a nice quality too. The brushes are dense and will be great for a smokey eye. Ipsy also suggests using this to create a winged eyeliner look.

Verdict: The total value of this month’s Ipsy is around $38! This was definitely a great month for me. I am happy to have received another makeup brush and I also love the eyeshadow trio.

All of the products are in a reuseable makeup bag. The design of the bag changes each month. This month’s bag reminds me of a pretty watercolor painting of a sunset.

Luxie 522 Tapered Highlighting Brush ($24): I love receiving brushes in my subscription boxes! This is a really nice quality brush and it has done a fantastic job so far.

IMG_5141

Pur-Lisse Blue Lotus + White Tea Sheet Mask/Blue Lotus + Seaweed ($8/each): Pur-lisse is another great brand that I was happy to see this month. I was also thrilled that I received two of these masks along with my other four items. These are moisturizing masks that fight free radicals and improve skin texture and tone.

IMG_5139

Pretty Woman Nail Polish in Pouty ($7.99): This is a full size bottle. I think the shade is a great fuschia/purple for spring. It’s a high gloss polish but I think it would also be pretty with a matte top coat.

IMG_5142

tarte LipSurgence Lip Creme in Wonder ($12.80): Yay, tarte! I was so happy to see this in my bag. I love this color too! I have tried this lip creme before but it was in a different shade. This is a bit darker but I really like it. The formula is creamy and long lasting too.

IMG_5140

City Color Highlight Trio ($8.99): I love that I received a set of highlighters along with a highlighting blush. This trio includes a goldish shade, a creamy light shade, and a pearly nude highlight. I will probably use the first two for eyeshadows and the third as a highlighter. The formula is silky and it’s very blendable.

IMG_5144

Verdict: The total value of this bag is $69.78! Seven times the cost of the box…wow wow wow! I think that this might be my favorite GlamBag from ipsy to date. Every item is a hit for me this month. I would love it if each bag contained a brush as well!

Ipsy August 2015 Bag

All of the products are in a reuseable makeup bag. The design of the bag changes each month. I really love the houndstooth and hot pink design this month.

Ipsy August 2015: Briogeo Blossom & Bloom Ginseng & Biotin Hair Volumizer

Briogeo Blossom & Bloom Ginseng & Biotin Hair Volumizer ($3.52): This spray smells amazing. This spray is also cruelty-free and 90% vegan. It does not contain any dyes, parabens or sulfates. I have very fine, thin hair so I can’t wait to see how this works!

Ipsy August 2015: Lather Ultra Mild Face Wash

Lather Ultra Mild Face Wash ($3.17): This cleanser removes dirt and oil without stripping skin of its natural emollients. It’s paraben and sulfate free. It does have a slight medicinal smell in my opinion though.

Ipsy August 2015: Skinn Luxe Waterproof Eyeliner in Navy

Skinn Luxe Waterproof Eyeliner in Navy ($9.50): I usually only wear brown or black eyeliner but navy will be nice for those days when I want to mix it up a bit.

Ipsy August 2015: Hikari Lip Gloss in Merlot

Hikari Lip Gloss in Merlot ($13): I really like Hikari products but this gloss is a bit darker than I typically wear. I have a friend that loves this shade though so I passed it on to her. And it looks great on her!

IMG_3969

Trust Fund Nail Polish in Elegantly Wasted ($11.67): I love the lilac/grayish color of this polish. I think it will make a nice transition into fall. Plus, the names of the polishes from this line are kinda fun!

Verdict: The total value of this month’s bag is $40.86. Ipsy is definitely one of the best values out there. I love the mix of fun items that Ipsy always packs into each bag.

The Package

You can’t miss the hot pink packaging in your mailbox!

Ipsy Makeup Bag July

The Bag

All of the products are shipped in reusable makeup bag each month. The designs vary from month to month. The quality and design of the bags has improved greatly over the last few months as well!

Ipsy July 2015: Crown Tweezers

Crown Tweezers

Crown Tweezers ($6.99): If you received these tweezers, you either got them in black or pink. The quality of these is actually really great. I have a pair of tweezers that I love already but it’s nice to have a spare pair for my purse or travel bag.

Ipsy July 2015: Jersey Shore Sun Mongongo Lip Balm in Vanilla Coconut

Jersey Shore Sun Mongongo Lip Balm in Vanilla Coconut Cream

Jersey Shore Sun Mongongo Lip Balm in Vanilla Coconut ($5): This is an organic lip balm that doubles as an anti-aging conditioner for lips. I love this vanilla coconut cream flavor and the formula is awesome as well. It makes my lips feel smooth and soft. This brand has a lot of other yummy flavors I would like to check out as well!

Ipsy July 2015: teeez Read My Lips Lipstick in Killing Me Softly

teeez Read My Lips Lipstick in Killing Me Softly

teeez Read My Lips Lipstick in Killing Me Softly ($22): This lipstick is made with coconut oil to hydrate lips. The formula is creamy but the finish is matte. I love this shade because it’s a blend of red/coral. It’s different than any other shade I own and I think it works great for a lot of different skin tones. The packaging of this product is really cool as well.

Ipsy July 2015: OFRA Eyeshadow & Highlighter in Bliss

OFRA Eyeshadow & Highlighter in Bliss

OFRA Eyeshadow & Highlighter in Bliss (~$10): This eyeshadow is a great color for summer. It’s a very shimmery bronze color. I’m not sure I would use this as a highlighter because it’s a bit dark for my complexion. It will make a great shadow for doing a variation of a smokey eye though.

Ipsy July 2015: Eva NYC Dry Shampoo

Eva NYC Dry Shampoo

Eva NYC Dry Shampoo ($1.70): I know I say this all the time but I don’t get excited about dry shampoos in subscription boxes. This one does have a nice, clean scent though and it’s small enough to tuck into my purse when I feel like I need some touch ups.

Verdict: The total value of this month’s Ipsy is around $45 which is really impressive. This isn’t my favorite Ipsy bag but I will definitely be able to use all of the products. I do love seeing beauty tools like the tweezers and would love to see more of that in the future as well.
